Rich
Boehne - Strong Kids
Rich
is president and chief executive officer of the E.W. Scripps Company. He began
his career as a reporter, first with The Cincinnati Enquirer and then with a chain
of community newspapers. He joined the corporate staff of Scripps in 1988 and
soon was promoted to director of the company's communication efforts including
overseeing the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Rich has continued to demonstrate
dedication to the community through each of his promotions. He currently serves
on the boards of Cincinnati's FreeStore/FoodBank and the Cincinnati USA Regional
Chamber of Commerce. Rich has also been a longtime volunteer and supporter of
YMCA youth development programs. His commitment to character values and the YMCA's
impact is immeasurable. As a result, his two sons are both pursuing their own
passion for social change through volunteerism.
The
Cincinnati Herald - Strong Communities
The
53-year-old award winning Cincinnati Herald is Cincinnati's oldest and only locally
owned weekly newspaper serving the African American community. The publication
has a long history of civic engagement, helping to raise awareness and impact
of many causes. Senator Eric Kearney, one of the owners of the KGL Media Group/Sesh
Communications which publishes the Herald, is a Board member of the Community
Services YMCA. Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney, publisher, hosts WLWT's popular community
affairs Issues Show. Under their leadership, the Herald has been a valuable partner
to many events, programs and services including those of the YMCA. Some examples
include the YMCA Black Achievers Event, the Black Family Reunion, and the NAACP
Convention. Residents and professionals in neighborhoods across Greater Cincinnati
have benefited.
The children
of William and Harriet Clippard: William L. Clippard, III,
Robert L. Clippard,
Oscar S. Clippard, and Patricia Dudsic - Strong
Families
The Clippard story is one of loyalty and perseverance. William
and Harriet raised their children with great love and humility. Their strong values
were parlayed into a successful business, and ultimately generous gifts that are
benefiting the community. It began in 1941 when William Leonard Clippard, Jr.
founded Clippard Instrument Laboratory, a pioneering manufacturer of miniature
pneumatics known. Today his legacy is being carried forward under the leadership
of his sons - President William L. Clippard, III and Vice President Robert L.
Clippard. The company, like the family, has a sincere interest in enhancing the
quality of life for employees and for the surrounding neighborhoods. The William
and Harriet Clippard Family YMCA is a permanent reminder of their vision. In 1991,
the Clippard Instrument Laboratory made a lead gift to kick-off a capital fundraising
campaign. After many others rose to the challenge, the new YMCA facility was dedicated
in 1994. Clippard family members (also including children Pat and Buck) and employees
continue to help the Colerain Township branch grow with fundraising efforts.
