LEADERS
CLUB AND PROGRAMS AT AREA BRANCHES Teens who belong to a Leaders Club
at YMCA branches get the opportunity to learn, service, socialize, travel and
grow as leaders. Teens run the club by serving as Officers and members vote on
all decisions affecting the club. Volunteer opportunities include leading classes,
serving on branch boards, courtesy counter assistance and more. Club social activities
include dances, parties, rallies, conferences, skiing, hiking and almost anything
else you might want to do. HI-Y HI-Y is a student
run experience that reaches teens to learn how to become citizen leaders. Students
come together in high schools, Jr. highs, YMCAs, or community centers to form
their own HI-Y group. With help from an advisor or adult mentor, teens identify
what they like about their community and their school, and what they would like
to change. They develop a plan and implement service projects to make these changes.
HI-Y members have opportunities to network with HI-Ys throughout Ohio and West
Virginia, and take advantage of statewide activities, leadership conferences,
and summer leadership camp. HI-Y is a great way to make friends and have fun while
making positive changes in yourself as well as your community. For more information

COUNCIL The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati offers opportunities for youth
to change Cincinnati through their voices on the Youth Council. Although officers
are elected at the annual Youth in City Government program, youth can serve as
Cabinet members on the Youth Council. The goal of the current Youth Council, which
meets monthly, is to provide valuable insight and feedback to adult community
leaders about youth interests. The Youth Council defines youth issues, proposes
solutions, plans action and advocacy, as well as evaluates and promotes the results. For
