AQUAZUMBA®
Perfect for those looking to make a splash by adding a low-impact, high-energy aquatic exercises to their fitness routine. Aqua Zumba® blends Zumba® philosophy with water resistance, for one pool party you shouldn't miss! There is less impact on your joints during an Aqua Zumba® class so you can really let loose. Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is more challenging and helps tone your muscles.

AQUACISE
(No music) Easy exercise program in the water. No swimming ability needed. This is a great class for beginners and seniors.

AQUATIC ARTHRITIS
Combines flexibility, range-of-motion, and balance, along with strengthening and light travel for cardiovascular conditioning. This class is taught by a certified Arthritis Foundation instructor and is great for beginners and seniors.

ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION YMCA AQUATIC PROGRAM PLUS
The Arthritis Foundation, in conjunction with the YMCA, offers this program to anyone who has a need to exercise in the water. All exercises are approved by the Arthritis Foundation and are designed for muscle strengthening around the joints and joint range of motion. The "Plus" part of the program involves mild to moderate cardiovascular exercises.

DEEP WATER CARDIO AND STRENGTH - LEVEL I, II, III
This deep water class provides the least impact and the most resistance. Aqua Jogger belts are used to help ensure the body maintains proper alignment during class while participants perform deep water cardio exercises including jogging, bicycling, kicking, scissors, and tilting to improve fitness. Strength training equipment can vary from water dumbbells, noodles, and balls. Be advised the Aqua Jogger belt is NOT a life saving device. Swimming ability is useful.

DEEP WATER VARIETY - LEVEL I, II, III
Taught in the deep end of the pool, this class is great for those needing little to no impact on their joints while still getting a workout. Participants receive a great cardio and low-impact workout while using the S.W.E.A.T. principle. Aqua Jogger belts are used during the class to help ensure the body maintains proper alignment during class. Be advised the Aqua Jogger belt is NOT a life saving device. Swimming ability is useful.

GENTLE MOVES
This class, offered in the shallow end, is designed specifically for people with arthritis, fibromyalgia, and related conditions. Specifically designed exercises help participants improve their joint flexibility and reduce their pain and stiffness, while supported by the water’s buoyancy and resistance.

SHALLOW WATER VARIETY LEVEL – I, II, III
Taught in the shallow end of the pool, this very popular class is designed for the general population and offers everything from a great cardio workout to providing low-impact, muscle resistance, using a variety of exercises and equipment.

SHALLOW WATER CARDIO AND STRENGTH LEVEL – I, II, III
Shallow Cardio and Strength incorporates all the properties of water at a moderate intensity.  Water cardio exercises include walking, jogging, kicking, rocking, jumping, and scissoring, while a variety of equipment will be used for the strength portion. Options will be available for increasing or decreasing your personal intensity level.

SILVERSNEAKERS® SPLASH
Shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. SilverSneaker® kickboard is used to develop strength, balance, and coordination.

WATER IN MOTION®
A high calorie burning workout without the pull that gravity plays on the body.  Experience the cross-training effects that water provides reducing the impact on our joints, specifically knees and back.

COMPETITIVE YOUTH SWIM TEAMS
The Y offers youth competitive and national competitive swim teams that are available for children as young as five.  The swim team program focuses on quality, aligns with national YMCA competitive swimming standards, and provides swimmers with more exposure and greater opportunities to compete at both regional and national levels.

YMCA swim coaches work to improve swimmers' skill level, endurance and to promote a healthy lifestyle.  Our program embraces the YMCA core values and promotes progression at an individual level.  You must be a YMCA of Greater Cincinnati member to participate in our competitive swim program.

YMCA OF GREATER CINCINNATI SYNCHROGATORS
The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati Synchrogators offer training and practice groups for swimmers, generally between the ages of 6 and 19.  Synchronized swimming is a hybrid form of swimming that utilizes water skills, along with dance and gymnastics in performing complex routines in the water, accompanied by music.

The YMCA Synchrogators train and nurture young people to develop the confidence and poise needed to become successful in swimming and in life.  The program currently has swimmers involved in collegiate programs across the country.

YMCA OF GREATER CINCINNATI MASTERS SWIM PROGRAM
The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati offers a Masters Swim Program designed to help swimmers (18 years and older) improve their technique and/or train for specific swimming goals, such as a Triathlon or other swim competition. The YMCA Masters Swim Program is perfect for both competitive and active non-competitive swimmers alike.

We highly recommend that participants looking to enter the program have the following knowledge and/or experience:

 • Past swimming experience (lessons, swim team or recreational) 
 • Basic knowledge of various swimming drills (finger tip, kick and/or stroke drills)
 • Able to swim 200 yards of freestyle stroke, continuously
 • Proficient in both the back and breast strokes

ADAPTED SWIM LESSONS (AGES 3 AND UP)
This is a course designed for those who have a disability.  The class provides the special attention that may be difficult to get in a group lesson. Individual or small group lessons are provided by both paid and volunteer staff. Instruction is based on the needs of the participant.

TEEN SWIM LESSONS (13 YEARS AND UP)
This class is for teens who are looking to learn how to swim or are working on becoming better swimmers.

ADULT SWIM PROGRAM
This program is designed for adult swimmers of all abilities and with all swimming backgrounds. Each workout is flexible, so that experienced swimmers are challenged, and those newer to the water have time to become comfortable and learn the sport.

PRIVATE/SEMI-PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS
These lessons are intended for individuals or family/friends who need flexible scheduling with a choice of instructors. A maximum of three participants may enroll in a lesson. Classes will be arranged around the participant's schedule and pool space availability. Fees are based on the number of participants enrolled, and the amount of time for the lesson. Private/Semi-private lessons consist of your choice of four 30-minute lessons, or four 45-minute lessons. Participants should exchange contact information with the instructor for scheduling conflicts. Please allow two weeks for instructor assignment.

YMCA LIFEGUARD TRAINING
2011 Edition YMCA Lifeguard Training
Age Requirement: 16+  

This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to be a lifeguard and professional rescuer.  Participants will be certified in CPR pro for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration.  The course presents information on the skills and knowledge lifeguards need in the pool, lake, river, surf, and water park environments.  The comprehensive course offers up-to-date information on how to lifeguard by anticipating and preventing problems before they occur and by taking action to help those in danger, when necessary.  The course also covers safety skills, accident prevention, scanning, guarding techniques, emergency systems, rescue skills, first aid in aquatic environments, spinal injury management, open water dangers, legal responsibilities, pool management, and information on how to be hired as a lifeguard.  This course has no pre-requisite courses.

PRE-COURSE ASSIGNMENTS:
  • Complete all of the Y Lifeguard eLearning lessons
  • Complete the ASHI lesions prior to class. 
 The lesson content is approximately five hours.  You will receive an email from the class instructor with more information and a link to the sessions.

2011 Edition YMCA Lifeguard Recertification
Age Requirement: 16+

This course provides individuals who hold a current 2011 Edition Lifeguard Certification the opportunity to participate in a modified course in order to recertify their certification, before it expires.  This course has no pre-requisite courses.

PRE-COURSE ASSIGNMENTS:
  • Completion of all of the Y Lifeguard eLearning lessons.
  • Completion of the ASHI lessons prior to the class.  The lesson content is approximately five hours in length.
