The Y is for everyone. Our programs, services and initiatives empower people to be healthier in spirit, mind and body, prepare people for employment, welcome and embrace newcomers and help foster a nationwide service ethic. And that's just the beginning!
The Y’s many different programs let you try new things, develop skills, meet new people, and show what you are capable of! All of our programs will help you achieve and maintain health in spirit, mind, and body.
Preschool Child Care
Ages 3-5
Children will be exposed to developmentally appropriate activities throughout their school day and will develop kindergarten readiness skills based on their level and individual abilities.

We serve the folllowing schools: Sharpsburg, Norwood View, Williams, TCP, Cornerstone Christian Academy of Norwood and Academy of World Languages
When Norwood City Schools are closed we will NOT be hosting any child care programs. When there are delays there will be no before school and pre school will start according to the delay.
School's Day Out
Children will participate in games, swimming, arts and crafts, field trips and more. For grades K-6 and runs 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. To participate in the field trip, children must be at the YMCA by 9:00 am. Registration begins three weeks prior to the particular School’s Day Out and is on a limited basis. You must register at least two days in advance of the date your child plans to attend. Space fills quickly!

AQUATICS
The YMCA offers a wide range of swimming options for the whole family. Swimming builds self-confidence and develops the whole person - spirit, mind, and body. Classes are divided into ability and age groups. Trained instructors emphasize personal safety, swimming skills, endurance and social skills, while guiding students with praise and encouragement.

Pike/Eel
Age: 3-5 years old
Pike
At this level, children begin to attend classes without their parents. This level helps children develop safe pool behavior, adjust to the water, and develop independent movement in the water. It is designed for new swimmers, teaching basic paddle stroke and kicking skills, pool safety, and comfort in holding their faces in the water while blowing bubbles and swimming. To advance, must demo front/back float with Individual Floatation Device, paddle stroke front/back 5 feet without Individual Floatation Device.
Eel
This advanced beginner level reinforces Pike skills. It is for children who are comfortable in the water. They are taught to flutter kick, dive, float, and perform the progressive paddle stroke. Children can swim across the pool without assistance by the end of this level. To advance, must demo 20 seconds front/back float and paddle stroke front/back/side 15 feet without Individual Floatation Device.
Children will be tested at the first class and split into groups based on their abilities. Children must complete the skills for each level in order to move up.
Ray/Starfish
Age: 3-5 years old
Ray
At this level children review previous skills, improve skills, build endurance by swimming on their front and back, and learn to tread water and perform the progressive paddle stroke. Children can swim across the pool on their front and back without assistance by the end of this level. To advance, must demo front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing 20 feet without Individual Floatation Device. Must complete EEL or demonstrate required skills.
Starfish
Children at this level review previously learned skills and refine their crawl and back stroke and floating skills. They also learn underwater swimming skills. Children can swim a length of the pool on the front and back at the end of this level. To progress, must demo front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing 40 feet without Individual Floatation Device. This level is for the child who has the endurance to swim the length of the pool without equipment, has the concept of rotary breathing with over arm recovery, backstroke, and personal safety skills.
Intermediate
Age: 6-12 years old
Swim Levels: Polliwog, Guppy, Minnow
Children will be tested at the first class and split into groups based on their abilities. Children must complete the skills for each level in order to move up.
Advanced
Age: 6 and up.
Swim Levels: Fish, Flying Fish, Shark, Porpoise.

Private Swim Lessons
One-on-one swim lessons are available. Lessons will be 1/2 hour in length. Please contact Julie Halusek for a schedule of available days and times.
Y’s Way To Water Exercise
This low-intensity workout will help keep your joints moving and muscles strong. Improve your ability to do daily activities and gain more energy. Meet new people and make friends. Ideal for arthritis patients.

Deep Water Workout
Non-swimmers and swimmers can enjoy and will benefit from deepwater exercise. A water belt will support you in deep water with your head comfortably above the surface at all times.

Co-Ed Spalsh Aerobics
This one-hour class choreographed to music is a high energy, low-impact water aerobic program, enabling participants to improve cardiovascular conditioning, as well as flexibility and muscle tone. This class will enable you to work at your own level of intensity using various forms of exercise. Non-swimmers welcome.

Basketball
Traditional 5 on 5 Basketball. This is an instructional league that promotes values, sportsmanship, teamwork and basic skill development. Rules are modified for each age level and everyone gets equal playing time. Ages 3-10.

Pump
Pump iron in a classroom setting to firm and shape the upper body (arms, chest, and back) and lower body (hips, thighs, and abs). Participants work with weights to improve muscle tone, flexibility and posture. For beginner to advanced fitness level.

Cardio Kickboxing
A fun cardiovascular workout, similar to Tae-Bo. We combine boxing-like punches, kicks and traditional aerobics.

Yoga
Stretch, tone, strengthen, breathe, relieve stress and energize with this beginner’s yoga class.

Zumba
Zumba uses interval training and a combo of fast and slow rhythms to help burn calories while toning & sculpting. Zumba includes merengue, salsa, mambo, cumbia, rumba, flamenco, raggeaton, & calypso. Fun and easy, but a serious workout!
- Tuesday 6:00-6:55pm
Group Cycling
Group cycling is a moderate to high intensity, non-impact cardiovascular workout for all fitness levels. Your training will require strength, determination and fortitude. You select the intensity of your ride according to your fitness level but don’t be scared to keep up with the instructor.

Silversneakers®
Senior workout. A combination of seated and standing exercises will be used. Intensity will vary with your ability

Guest Policy/ Guest Passes

A current YMCA member must accompany all guests.

All guests age 16 and over must present a photo ID and sign the Guest Registry at the beginning of each visit.

Guests are permitted to use the YMCA a maximum of three times per year.

Upon joining or renewing a YMCA membership, members will receive six complimentary guest passes.

Members visiting from other YMCAs more than 50 miles away may use the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati three times per month free of charge. Each additional use will be at the full guest fee.
