POLICIES AND GUIDELINES
Children 6 & under and those wearing RED bands must have an adult within arms reach in ALL pools at all times. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult (18 yrs. or older) before entering any pool. Swim testing will be given to children 16 years old and under. After evaluation, skill level wrist bands will be given. YELLOW: Shallow water. RED: Non-swimmer (must be accompanied by a parent). GREEN: Deep water swimmer, anywhere in the pool. Swim bands will now be handed out at the front desk if water test was previously taken. Swim tests are renewed yearly. Upon leaving the pool for the day, please deposit swim bands in buckets located at all exits.

POOL GUIDELINES

  • Lifeguards are on duty whenever the pool is open. Please follow all rules.
  • Toys and training equipment are available for members’ use at the lifeguard’s discretion.
  • If a child is not completely potty trained, swim diapers must be worn.
  • All children over the age of 5 must use the appropriate dressing room.
  • No water wings allowed in pool. Approved flotation devices in shallow end only.
  • All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied in the water by an adult who is 18 or older.
  • The YMCA reserves the authority to close sections of the pool due to maintenance or staff limitations.

YOUR HEALTH AND SAFETY
The pool(s) will be closed for thunder or lightning, to clean up after contamnation, and/or if pool chemistry is at an unsafe level due to equipment malfunction.

We strive to reopen the pool as soon as safely possible. The pool can be closed up to 30 minutes after thunder and/or lightening and up to eight hours after contamination.

If you are experiencing abdominal problems and/or diarrhea, please refrain from swimming.

LESSON GUIDELINES

  • Children who are not potty trained are required to wear a swim diaper. They are available at the front desk for a small fee. Please take your children to the restroom prior to class.
  • We do not offer make-up lessons. Credits will be given under special circumstances only.
  • We reserve the right to add, cancel, or combine classes. If a class is full, please put your name on a waiting list.
  • If you are dissatisfied with your lesson, please let us know immediately. Please do not wait until the end of the session.
  • If we need to cancel a class due to a health and safety pool closing, we will still do a safety day on the deck.

The goals of YMCA swimming lessons are:

  • stroke development
  • personal safety
  • rescue
  • water sports and games
  • personal growth

Practicing personal safety and rescue skills each session helps children remember these skills. Water sports and games are tools to help us reinforce strokes and water skills learned. To accomplish these goals in our aquatic program, please remember that children may be in the same level for several sessions.
