PRACTICE SCHEDULES REGIONALS We
will be blocking off enough rooms for every family to reserve one at the Hampton
Inn in Hilliard, Ohio. (3950 Lyman Drive, Hilliard, Ohio, 43026). We will give
you the phone number and reservation number as soon as I get it. It is not mandatory
that all players stay in the hotel the night before the tournament, but if possible,
it is a great way for the girls to get in one last chance to bond before the end
of the season. Check in is at 3:00pm and in the past usually the teams go out
together around 5:30/6:00 for dinner. In the past, my teams and I meet at the
hotel around 5:00 and head to dinner. Then we come back to the hotel and have
a end of the season party in the lobby. The accomidations are great for the price
and the front desk usually doesn't care. There is a pool and the kids can take
advantage of that. Pool play at the tournament begins at 8:30am so the players
need to be out the door by 7:30/7:45. If any family does not stay at the hotel
they will need to meet the team there at this time. Each coach will be giving
you specific instructions, but these are the basics. If you have any questions,
let me know! :) FAMILY
FUN NIGHT Family Fun Night is a night that the players can bring
their family members to the YMCA to enjoy the facilities while it is closed to
the public. The pool will be open along with the Waterpark. We will also have
the annual Player on Coaches game which is always a BLAST! (P.S. 17's/16's: You're
going DOWN!!) We will provide pizza and we will assign soda, appetizers, deserts
etc. to each team to be in charge of. More details are to come asap! FINALIZED

TOURNAMENT
TIME
Play All
teams are placed in pools of 3 to 4 teams. You will play each team in your pool
and the teams with the best records will advance to a Gold bracket with other
teams advancing to a Silver or Bronze bracket. At larger tournaments, teams will
play other pools, where they will advance to the different brackets. These brackets
are usually single elimination with a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awarded in each.
So, a team could lose all their pool play matches and still win 1st place in Bronze
or a team could win all their pool play matches and lose in Gold and not play.
What
to Bring Bring your own chairs. Seating is limited in most of the
gyms so we recommend that you bring your own chairs. Pack a cooler. We strongly
advise that you pack a cooler for your athlete for the day of a tournament because
they can run long. Bring a pillow and sleeping bag. Teams usually find a place
where they can sit together, away from the court and other teams. This is known
in the volleyball world as "camp". Most players bring pillows and sleeping
bags so they can rest between games. Homework, books, board games, etc. are all
recommended for some of the longer tournaments. Arrive early so you can
help set up your team area and get ready to warm-up. Except for starting times,
most tournaments do not follow a set time schedule. Matches will begin 10 minutes
after the end of the previous match. So pay attention to the court you are playing
on! Depending on the size of the tournament and how well it is run, it can be
over anywhere between 3pm and 11pm.
