New Military Membership Program

The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati recognizes the many sacrifices made by military personnel and their families to ensure our great country is protected.  With that in mind, the Y is pleased to announce a new program for active duty military personnel, veterans, and their families.  The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati is pioneering a $29 monthly rate for active duty/veterans, with a $49 monthly rate that would include families.  We recognize the importance of combining exercise and social opportunities to create a healthy mind, body, and spirit. The Y offers a wide array of programs and services for all ages in a nonthreatening environment that is welcoming to everyone.

There are five types of ID we can accept when you come to your YMCA of Greater Cincinnati branch to apply for the military membership program:

1. DD214 (certificate of release from service)
2. Driver's License (they will say active duty)
3. Military ID
4. LES - Leave Earning Statement (paycheck) from the Department of Defense
5. VA Health Care Card

Additional Military Membership Program

In addition to the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati pioneer military membership program, through a partnership between the United States Department of Defense (DOD) and the Armed Services YMCA, the Y gives families of active military personnel free access to youth development, family strengthening, and health and well-being programs at local YMCAs across the country. Through the $31 million initiative, membership fees for up to 18 months will be funded by the DOD.  Locally, families can join any one of the 13 YMCA of Greater Cincinnati YMCA locations throughout Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati.

Those eligible for this program include:

  • Families of joint deployed National Guard and Reserves
  • Active duty families assigned to newly established joint bases created by the base realignment and closure process
  • Active duty and independent duty station personnel
  • Relocated spouses and family members of deployed active duty personnel

Eligible participants can register by contacting their local Y branch. A local branch listing can be found here or by calling (513) 362-YMCA, providing proof of eligibility, by showing a military identification card, copy of deployment orders, and completing an eligibility form.

Eligibility forms are available on the website or by calling

***The initiative will fund the cost of memberships only. Camps, sports, afterschool programs, and other fee-based activities will not be included.
