THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE

The YMCA is a worldwide movement, active in more than 120 countries around the world and serving more than 30 million people. There are approximately 320 Y-to-Y partnerships between USA YMCAs and YMCAs inAfrica, Asia, Europe and NIS, Latin America, and the Middle East. Our annual World Service Campaign provides just over 1 million dollars in support each year to YMCAs in other countries. The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati International Committee is the local arm of the USA's International Division. We partner with YMCAs in other countries, supporting and exchanging with programs that expand our mission and assist other countries. Partnerships have even been made with the Ukraine, Panama and Africa.

This past year we have established agreements with YMCA’s in Kharkiv (Ukraine) and KITWE and Lusaka (Zambia). We have helped fund young adult camps and HIV/AIDS awareness programs in these countries. We offer “Student Ambassador Grants” to YMCA members for alternate spring break trips, church missions or study abroad projects. Our “Learn About World Program” provides school age children attending summer day camps at YMCA branches with exposure to people from different countries. This year many day camps will be conducting week long activities geared towards learning about other countries. The week will culminate with international students from the University of Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky University, and Xavier University visited YMCA talking to the children about life in their countries. These are just some of the major programs we have put together.
