Women vs Men and exercise Does working out cause people
to overcompensate by consuming excess calories? The American Journal of Clinical
Nutrition reports that this may in fact be the case but only among women,
not men. A study of the post-workout eating habits of men and women found that
aerobic exercises such as jogging and biking did not adversely affect men's appetites.
However, in the case of women, intense exercise was associated with overeating
after the daily workout. Nutrition experts recommend drinking plenty of water
after workouts to satisfy appetite and curb snacking, but insist that regular
exercise remains preferable to sedentary living regardless. REMEMBER
being physically active has many benefits; it helps you: Sleep more soundly
so you're refreshed and ready for the day; Control your weight by increasing your
metabolism and burning calories; Build muscle and tone your body; Guard against
colon and breast cancers as well as osteoporosis, diabetes, and high blood pressure;
Increase your HDL count - the "good cholesterol" ; Improve alertness
and concentration; Gain an overall sense of well-being while reducing stress.
(America on the Move) BUT remember spot reduction is a myth. If
you want to lose fat from your midsection, no amount of sit-ups (or any other
exercise for the stomach area) is going to do it; you need to eat fewer calories
than your body burns. And exercise helps you burn more calories. To get a smaller
waistline EAT LESS & EXERCISE MORE! For
