Make the Grade 1 Percent WHY? You can mimic road running
on a treadmill, raise the incline to 1 percent before starting your run. Researchers
found that this is the degree of treadmill elevation that most closely approximates
running outdoors on the road. But nothing replaces the "actual" thing
(running outside on the ground, riding a regular bike outside on the street or
rowing a boat). (Men's Health) Zinc is an essential trace mineral,
which, next to iron, is the second most abundant. Humans digest 20 to 40 percent
of the zinc that is found in foods, like red meats, poultry and seafood. Plant
and dairy sources are not as well absorbed. The fiber in vegetables lessens the
absorption of zinc and research has shown that dairy and egg sources of zinc are
also not the best sources of zinc. It is no surprise then that several studies
have shown that vegetarians often have a lower intake of zinc due to the avoidance
of meat, seafood and poultry. (LifeScript) DID YOU KNOW that you
should not take your vitamins with coffee, tea or sodas? These liquids can reduce
the absorption of minerals. If you have trouble swallowing supplements try liquids
that are denser than water such as milk, fruit juices or vegetable juices. (PHARMENEX)
