DID YOU KNOW that two carcinogens - heterocyclic amines
and benzopyrene - form in well-done grilled meat? University
of Minnesota researchers found that adults who ingested the
highest amounts of these chemicals had up to 2.4 times the
risk of pancreatic cancer compared with people who consumed
the least. (Prevention)
Get Older, Get Stronger The closer you move to the
half-century mark, the more your focus should shift toward
strength training. If you don't do any resistance exercise,
you'll lose about 10 percent of your muscle mass between ages
25 and 50. Between 50 and 80, you lose another 35 percent.
Everyone should be lifting weights by midlife. However, don't
stop your cardiovascular exercise; it will help ward off heart
disease. But remember always check with your doctor BEFORE
you start any new exercise program. (Men's Health)
DID YOU KNOW that hair is made up primarily of a protein
known as keratin, which is also found in fingernails and toenails?
Make sure you eat enough high-protein foods every day to ensure
that your body will keep producing keratin to build strong
hair. Good sources of healthy, lean protein include nuts,
seeds, low-fat dairy products, and lean meats. Protein from
the foods you eat is broken down into individual amino acids,
which can be rearranged like an anagram to provide the body
with a handful of different proteins, such as the proteins
that make up keratin. In other words, eating enough lean protein
every day is essential for having healthy hair. (LifeScript)
