HOW YOU CAN HELP

Students Drive the Process in CincyAfterSchool Arts
When Heru Lasana from Cincinnati Black Theatre Company teaches a drama class, he counts on his students to generate the ideas, cast the roles, and direct the skits. Students from Quebec Heights recently brought one of their own stories about Princess Petty Petty to life over the course of the 45-minute session. By trusting students to share ideas, we teach them to trust their own vision. By believing in their ideas, we build self-esteem and encourage students to see their ideas through to the project's completion.

Happy Valentines Day
Kids everywhere have no idea, that according to Wikipedia, we have Geoffrey Chaucer to thank for the romantic notions associated with Valentine's Day. Mostly they just love the candy and the cards. Here's an idea, let's make Valentine's Day even more meaningful by making sure each child in your world has a chance to know of the great poets such as Geoffrey Chaucer. Who is your favorite poet? Maya Angelou? Mary Oliver? Quincy Troupe? Share your love of poetry, reading or the arts with a child this Valentine's day.
