CincyAfterSchool Director, Rochelle Morton, gave $5 to each CAS site coordinator and asked them to: "Make a difference in the life of a child." Nathan Griffin at Riverview East spent the weekend, thinking, off and on, "What am I going to do with five dollars?" Most lunches he spends in the cafeteria to "take the temperature" of the kids. Monday the temperature was turned to "crazy - like a mosh pit." Nathan usually sits at a table with a few kids in his program. "We have the most interesting conversations. I know all the in-school gossip." On this particular day, he noticed that a few of his students didn't have snacks. No one came out and said it, but I could tell that money was an issue. Snacks mean everything at lunchtime. Usually, he only has a debit card and keys. On this particular day, he had 5 dollars. "I treated the entire table. "It was a bonding moment with some of the kids in my program. It was a moment I won't forget. Who says five dollars isn't a lot of money?"
