40 Developmental Assets
Asset #30:
Responsibility

Young person accepts and takes personal responsibility.

We all make mistakes or have to do tasks we don't like. As adults, we empower youths to be more responsible when we set examples and follow up on our responsibilities.

THIS MONTH'S ACTIVITIES

It's a Sign!
Ryland's AfterSchool Program is the place to be! Spencer Carpenter, now a third grader at Ryland Heights Elementary had to leave Ryland for 2 years. He struggled in his new school, so last April he asked his parents if he could come back to Ryland, because he missed the afterschool program. Promising his parents to try harder during homework help and get involved in activities, now he's a model student, his grades have improved and look at his schedule! Monday's he is in Sign Language; Tuesday is intramurals; Wednesday is Art & Gardening; and Thursday is Archery & Wildlife. Spencer, you are doing a great job!

Fall is Here!
The Kenton County Fall Soccer program has gotten off to a great start. We have over 200 participants, which is more than we have ever had in our soccer program before. Participants are learning more than just the fundamentals of soccer, but the core values of the YMCA. The Kenton County YMCA is now getting geared up for our Flag Football program, which starts October 6th.

Looking to Volunteer?
Community Services has volunteer positions for all types of volunteers - both program, policy alike. For example: For just one night - how about helping us on October 18th for our Lights On Event? Want more? Like to "take charge" of a new program? We've got a job for an event planner, who is good at connecting people, and interested in teaching youths to dress for success. For more info on volunteering, call Jennifer at (513) 961-3200 and she can plug you into one of our many exciting programs.
